November 12th, 2009Thinking eLoudLet me preface this entry by saying that I love my iPhone. It’s freakin sweet.
But AT&T pulled a pretty lame move today when they issued a formal response to Verizon’s “There’s a Map for That” marketing campaign.
How exactly did AT&T choose to respond to the viral ads, you ask- A post to their website. (bahahaha!)
Seriously, I could barely get myself to read through the entire entry. First off, the font is hideous and there’s soooo much text on that page. Not engaging at all. Marketing 101: Pretty/comical/weird images say more than a gazillion words ever could. How could this ugly webpage even begin to compete with the adorable ‘Misfit Toys’ commercial Verizon just started running? (See below.)
Wake up AT&T – You have exclusive rights to the freaking iPhone, the unprecedented leader in the smartphone market. The Pre couldn’t take you down. And so far, it doesn’t look like the Droid will either. This is really all you could come back with? A long, boring webpage with lots of numbers. Tisk, tisk.
My question for AT&T is this- How could they not see this campaign coming?
Have they not been reading the multiple reports of shotty service? How about the articles about tech celebs breaking up with their iPhone because of AT&T? Come on! Someone was going to make money off of these reports sooner or later, Verizon just had the guts to do it first.
Apple take note – Leave AT&T as fast as you can. If the MMS ordeal wasn’t enough for you to realize it, hopefully this will wake you up to the fact that AT&T is screwing with your brand.
P.S. Quote from the post – “Talk and E-mail at the same time. Unlike Verizon, AT&T’s 3G network lets wireless customers simultaneously talk and surf the web or do e-mail.”
Ummmm, unless you have an iPhone! OMG.Ok, I’m done. Back to my happy place ♥♥♥
